ABOUT ben

I’m Ben Payne, a freelance videographer based in Perth, Western Australia. My work is driven by sport, storytelling, and community with a strong focus on ice hockey. Collaborating across both the Perth Inferno of the Australian Women’s Ice Hockey League (AWIHL) and the Perth Thunder of the Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL).

Alongside hockey, I have a deep love for filming professional wrestling. As a former pro wrestler in my twenties, stepping behind the camera felt completely natural. It gave me a new way to support the friends and athletes I came up with. Capturing their journeys as they chase their dreams, whilst also scratching my creative needs.

Today, I spend my time behind the lens working to grow the sports that mean the most to me. I aim to create work that leaves a lasting impact, not just on the audience, but on myself. Pushing me to be better with every project.
